The parts of the screen

📷 Screenshot needed: screen-overview.png - the visual in Focus Mode with numbered markers on the parts below.

  1. Tab strip and ribbon. The tabs Start, Insert, View, Export and Help, plus the Chart tab that appears only while a chart column is selected. Only in Focus Mode. See the ribbon overview.
  2. Floating strip (top right). From left to right: the loading indicator while something loads, the eye (a list of hidden rows and columns), Undo and Redo, and - outside Focus Mode - the Settings gear. In Focus Mode the strip sits in the tab strip. Each item is only there when it has something to show or its setting is on.
  3. Layer Toggles bar. A row of numbered buttons above the table. Optional - switch it on in View tab > Display > Layer Toggles. See Layer Toggles.
  4. The table.
    • The header has one row per column level. The corner cells at the left belong to the first column (the row labels); the last one shows the Row Header text ("Rows" by default).
    • Under each measure header a Financial Header marker can be drawn.
    • The body shows one row per member. Rows with children have a + / - icon in front.
    • A Total row (grand total) at the bottom by default, and optionally a Total column.
  5. Side panels on the right: Formatting, Conditional Formatting, Templates and Spacing. Only one is open at a time - opening one closes the other.
  6. Dialogs and pop-ups. The Number Format dialog, the Financial Headers settings, the column picker, quick rule forms and confirmations. They are centered on the visual; on a very tall visual they stay within its top 900 px so they remain in sight.

Selection colors

Selections are outlined in Focus Mode so you can see what the ribbon will change:

SelectionOutline
Column (or header)Blue
RowGreen
Cell(s)Purple

Only one kind of selection exists at a time: selecting a row clears a column selection and so on. See Selecting.
