Layer Toggles
The Layer Toggles are a row of numbered buttons - 1, 2, 3, ... - above the table, one per layer of the row hierarchy. They work like the level buttons of an Excel PivotTable: a click on 3 opens the whole table down to layer 3.

What a button does
- Button N opens every row above layer N and closes everything deeper, for the whole table - whatever was open before. 1 shows only the first layer.
- The button whose layer matches what is open right now is highlighted (blue). If you opened single rows by hand so that the table matches no layer exactly, no button is highlighted.
- Under On-Demand Loading, a button also fetches the rows it needs - layer by layer - and the table fills in as the data arrives (see Loading strategies).
- The button's hover text says which layer it opens and, with loading dots on, whether the layer is loaded.
The same jump is available from a row's context menu: Expand > All Rows > To Level and Expand Layer.
Switching the bar on
View tab > Display > Layer Toggles opens a menu:
| Section | Entry | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Display | On / Off | Show or hide the bar. Default: Off. |
| Settings | Show Loading Indicators | Adds a small dot to each button (see below). Needs the bar to be on. |
| Show Unloaded Layers | On (default): every layer has a button. Off: only layers that have already arrived get a button. Needs the bar to be on. |
The loading dots
With Show Loading Indicators on, each button carries a dot:
| Dot | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green | The layer is loaded. |
| Yellow | The layer is being loaded - or loading was cancelled and this layer was not finished (see Cancel and Continue). |
| Orange | You opened a row in a layer that is not loaded yet; its children are being fetched. |
| Red | The layer is not loaded. |
A layer only counts as loaded when every layer above it is complete.
The bar leaves room for the floating strip at the top right, so its buttons never run underneath the loading indicator or the Undo / Redo buttons.
