ButtonWhat it does
FormattingOpens (and closes) the Formatting panel: every row, column and cell you formatted from the Start tab. The button looks pressed while the panel is open.
Conditional FormattingOpens the Conditional Formatting menu.

The Conditional Formatting menu

Modelled on Excel's. Most entries create a rule at once for the selected columns (or ask for the columns first if none are selected), and a message at the bottom says what was done, with Undo and Edit. Every rule lands in the Conditional Formatting panel as an ordinary card.

EntrySubmenu
Highlight Cell RulesGreater Than..., Less Than..., Between..., Equal To..., Text that Contains...
Top/Bottom RulesTop 10 Items..., Bottom 10 Items..., Above Average..., Below Average...
Data BarsTwo grids of six colors: Gradient Fill and Solid Fill. A click creates the rule.
Color ScalesTwelve presets, three-color and two-color. A click creates the rule.
New Rule...Opens the panel with a new rule begun.
Clear Rules > Clear Rules from Entire SheetDeletes all rules (with Undo in the message).
Manage Rules...Opens the panel.

The entries ending in ... open a small form under the button with:

  • the value(s) the rule needs (a number, two numbers, text, or a count with items / % of the column) - or nothing for the average rules,
  • Format - one of the six ready-made formats (see Conditional Formatting) or Custom format... to finish it in the panel,
  • Applies to - the columns; a + opens the column picker when you have not selected any.

OK creates the rule; a wrong or missing input gets a line of text under the fields instead of closing the form.

The twelve color scales are: Green - Yellow - Red, Red - Yellow - Green, Green - White - Red, Red - White - Green, Blue - White - Red, Red - White - Blue, White - Red, Red - White, Green - White, White - Green, Green - Yellow and Yellow - Green.

Totals

Totals opens a menu with three sections:

SectionEntriesDefault
Row Total (the grand total row, labelled "Total")Top, Bottom, OffBottom
Row Subtotals (where a group's subtotal sits relative to its own rows)Top (above its children), Bottom (below them)Top
Column Total (a Total column for the whole table)Start, End, OffOff

Changing a placement redraws the table; it never changes a value. The total row can be selected and formatted like any row.

Filter

Filter opens a menu with two switches (check marks):

EntryWhat it does
Collapse Repeating LevelsIn an unbalanced hierarchy, a row whose only child has the same value as the row itself - repeated down through several levels - is shown as one row. Its + / - jumps straight to where the hierarchy branches again.
Hide NULL RowsLeaves out rows without any value. While it is on, the entry shows how many rows it hides right now: "Hide NULL Rows (12 hidden)".

Loading

Loading opens the strategy menu: Lazy Loading or On-Demand Loading, and Preload Rows. Everything about it is in Loading strategies.

Reset

Reset returns the visual to the state of a freshly added one. It first asks for confirmation:

Reset everything? This removes everything you set in this visual: the template, the formatting of rows and columns, hidden rows and columns, conditional formatting rules, the Design settings (lines, banding, font, spacing, ...) and which rows and columns are expanded. How the rows are loaded stays as it is. This cannot be undone.

After the reset the Default template is active, all rows are collapsed and the Formatting and Conditional Formatting panels are closed. See Saving, Undo and Reset.
