Templates panel
A template is a complete look for the table. Open the panel with View tab > Templates > Templates. It lists the built-in templates, each with its name and an example picture; a click anywhere on one applies it at once and marks it as the current one. The template in use is saved with the report.

A visual that was just added to a report starts with Default. Reset (Start tab) puts Default back.
What picking a template sets
Picking a template does two things:
- It sets the base look: the alignment of cells, row labels and headers, header font weight and background.
- It sets these options from the View tab to the template's values: Financial Headers on or off, Row Banding (on/off and colors), Horizontal and Vertical Lines (on/off and colors), Outline, and all five Spacing values.
After that the View tab's own switches are in charge: you can change any of those options and your choice stays, until you pick a template again.
The three templates
| Default | Finance | Grid | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Idea | A blank canvas: no look of its own | The long-standing look of Smart Matrix | Every line drawn, bold headers |
| Measure header text | Left | Centered | Right, bold |
| Group header text | Left | Centered | Left, bold, aligned to the top |
| Value cells, row labels | Right, left | Right, left | Right, left |
| Financial Headers | Off | On | Off |
| Row Banding | On (even rows #eeeded) | Off | On (even rows #eeeded) |

| Horizontal Lines, header | Off | On #24292f | On #e2e2e2 |
| Vertical Lines, body | Off | Off | On #e2e2e2 |
| Vertical Lines, header | Off | Off | On #e2e2e2 |
| Outline | On #63a6f8 | Off | Off |
| Spacing: Columns / Groups / Rows / Cell padding / Indent | 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 20 | 4 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 20 | 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 20 |
No template draws a border of its own, so every line can be switched on in every template.
Start from the template that is closest to what you want, then adjust the View tab, the Spacing panel and the formatting. Your own formatting of rows, columns and cells is independent of the template and stays when you switch.
